Jan. 23rd, 2004 06:49 amMy computer's been hijacked! And not only that, but I had to spend nearly the entire amount of time I have free to play on my computer before I go to work trying to fix it.
I first found it a few days ago. When I'd go to do a search from the address bar in IE, instead of doing the search through google like it was supposed to, it would go to this wacked out search engine I've never heard of.
And frequently, when I'd type in a website in the address bar (& maybe when I clicked a page in my favorites folder), it'd start by taking me to the page I wanted but then it'd redirect somewhere. The irritating (or maybe lucky) thing was that when it redirected, the site it redirected to couldn't be found. So, I'd get this really funky url in my address bar "res://mshp.dll/http_404.htm"
After running Ad-Aware, SpyBot Search & Destroy, & CWShredder, I *think* ::crosses fingers:: that I have gotten rid of the hijackers.
Though I do need to go find that darn mshp.dll file and get rid of it.
