Britney - got married?!

I feel soooo sorry for her, it's not even funny. I agree with the idea someone on my friendslist brought up that the whole business of it being a prank that'd gone too far, and its imminent annulment all make it sound like PR desperately trying to fix things.

My first reaction to the news was just about complete disbelief. Mainly, I think, because the idea of her getting married out of the blue in Vegas makes absolutely NO sense whatsoever. I had no clue she'd even been seeing anybody!

I'll be real curious to see how this plays out.


ETA: If the whole thing was a 'joke that'd gone too far', why in the world did they go to the trouble of going down to the courthouse & getting a marriage license?

As shallow as I am, and as much of an ass I usually am, there is a part of me that does feel sorry for her. I mean, what was she thinking?! If this is all serious and for real - then, okay, good for her, even if it's a bit crazy. But it totally seems like it was a joke, or somebody was maybe a bit intoxicated, and that's pretty sad. Especially since you know this is going to hang over her for all time.

Like you said....if this was a joke, then it went pretty far. Obviously. I mean, it seems like, what the whole having to get the license and such, they both had time to back out of it, and didn't.

Who knows? At this point, I don't think would surprise me.

I don't have much sympathy for her, because she brought all of this on herself. Pity, yes. Sympathy, no.
