The Sims & expansion packs

All these screenshots of nsync-sims has me itching to be able to join in the fun.

At first I thought that because my computer's so old, that it wouldn't be able to run the program very well.
But then I remembered that I had forgotten the fact that the sims games are old enough that they'll run just fine on my computer.

My first thing I caved on? I bought the PS2 sims game 'Bustin' Out'. It's WAY addictive! I accidentally stayed up until 2am last night playing.
As far as I can tell, the PS2 game doesn't let you make gay sims. :( I still have a JC & a Justin sim sharing a house. They're on the "Rock Star" career track. ::grins

Something tells me the next thing I'm going to cave on is the PC Sims game & all of its expansion packs.

What expansion packs should I get? I wanna make nsync-sims that can hook up with each other. *g*

I would suggest that you head over to The Sims - Getting Started (http://compsimgames.about.com/library/files/thesims/blthesims_newbies.htm) on About.com. Skip down to the bottom for reviews of each expansion pack. I would certainly recommend Livin' Large (you want your Sims to get abducted by aliens, right?), House Party (mechanical bulls!) and Hot Date, the latter especially since it includes the infamous love bed and all sorts of dating interactions.

I've already been there & found that place. I've also found thesimsresource.com, and thesims.com.

I've put 'The Sims: Double Deluxe' on my wishlist at amazon.com (evidently that $35 game comes with the actual game, plus Living Large & House Party). And for an additional $15 I can get the Hot Date expansion pack.

A message board I go to (the Closet), someone posted a picture of their sims, JC & Justin, playing on a 'love rug'. Evidently she/he found some things to download that made the sims get naked on this rug and jerk off, and help each other jerk off. No blurry bits, either.

That and all the other screen shots I've been seeing look like just too damn much fun to not play with.

Get all of the games in order. It's best that way. I like them all, and I think they're all equally fun although I don't have Makin' Magic or Superstar. I haven't heard anything bad about Superstar... only that it's hard to become a celeb and I've heard several complaints about various things in Makin' Magic, but it's still overall positive. :-)

Oh yes, you can get nudie!skins for your Sims so that when they strip down, they're just as God made them. :) And the love rug, I believe, is part of the Vacation expansion pack. The fabled love bed is in Hot Date.

SIMS! *squeals* Here's the thing you need to know: Each pack is progressively hanky-pankier. I think you have to get to the 3rd one or so to get boy-boy/girl-girl togetherness. Also, no matter which packs you you decide to get, install them in the order they were published. Have fun!

Thanks! So far, I'm having fun with the PS2 version. I think, if I work at doing all the little things in the 'task' mode, that when I switch back to the 'free play' mode, I'll have more social interactions available.

And from what I've read, do make a boy-sim 'gay' you simply flirt with men, and don't flirt with women.

I totally missed the PS2 part. I was talking about the puter version(s), where the packs are progressive with the, um, romantic activity. *blushes* Don't mind me.

Eee! I've been thinking about getting started on this too. It just sounds too much fun. I believe Hot Date is the one that allows the hooking up.

I haven't found any. But, I have figured out that you have to buy & install the expansion packs in the order they were released, otherwise if you go back to install an earlier one, there's a good chance you have to uninstall the entire game.

There's a $35 version called "The Sims Double Deluxe" and it has the game, plus the 1st two expansion packs (Livin' Large & House Party), luckily, Hot Date was the 3rd expansion pack, and I saw it on amazon.com for a mere $15.

They all allow 'relationships' to a point (from what I've been able to figure out), but with Hot Date, the "hanky-panky" factor evidently increases dramatically.

You can get fairly decent nsync skins on 7 Deadly Sims (http://7deadlysims.com/downloads.jsp?sin=Greed&Download_Type_ID=1).

I would say get all the expansion packs, except VACATION and UNLEASHED. They sorta suck...LOL.
