I did it!!
I went to the roller derby skills clinic this morning, and had an aweseomely amazing time!
I really pushed/challenged myself, I learned a ton, and am really excited for tryouts next month! :D
I have 4 weeks until tryouts, and I think I should do ok. But I really need to work on my endurance, and getting into better skating form (knees bent, ass down, chest/shoulders up & straight). And I need to work on putting more power into my crossovers.
One of the things they're going to test me on is whether or not I can skate 20 laps in 5 minutes. At the clinic this morning they had us to as many laps as we could in 3 minutes. I made 13.25 laps. Not bad, but I was really fading towards the end. My mentor said that it'll be easier if I get really powerful in my crossovers and just do crossovers the whole way around the track.
I'm SO glad I went. I was SUCH a bundle of nerves driving over, and my stomach was doing flipflops in the parking lot.
I'm doing laundry today because I have to, but other than that I'm going to take it really easy.
