Well, that was interesting...
The office Christmas party was last night.
Last year I didn't go, but this year since I have these wonderful hearing aids, I figured I'd give it a shot.
I was ok for about the first half-hour when everybody was standing around & mingling. Then more & more people showed up. And everybody got food & sat down and started chatting.
That's when I gave up. It was absolutely impossible to hear, and thus participate, in the conversations next to me or across the table. I could barely hear my husband when he spoke directly into my hearing aid. :(
It was exhausting. And I'm afraid I came across as very antisocial, too.
I'm thinking of sending out an email to the coworkers who were sitting nearest to me, saying how nice it was to visit, and how I hope I didn't seem antisocial last night, but since I'm hard of hearing not even my new hearing aids could help me understand what was being talked about.
I slept kinda sorta ok, but I'm still very tired. I have another social gathering tonight, but at least it's my ASL class's end-of-term potluck. So at least I don't have to try and hear anybody.
