Pet Peeve Of The Day
That LJ communities are mistaken for (& treated as) message boards.
They're communities for news, information, & discussion of support for whatever issue/person/etc they were created for.
They are NOT places to make 'shout-outs', introductions, or personal speculations.
I wish LJ could make it so that before anyone is allowed to join a community, that user must first pass an etiquette quiz. And when each community is created, that person could slightly tweak the etiquette quiz for their particular community. That's what I wish.
Why people continually think that when they join a community they simply must introduce themselves, in the most annoying way possible no less, will forever baffle me - not to mention irritate the hell out of me!
And, for the record, this seems to happen with amazing frequency to one community in particular.
3 guesses which one... and the first 2 don't count.
ETA: They are also NOT, I repeat NOT, places to pimp your website, online radio show, or other self-promoting multimedia item. I don't care how much your website (or radio show) babbles about how much you love this or that, him or her... that does NOT make it news worthy of announcement in a public LJ forum.
That is all.
Thank You.
